Bad Battery (?)

So the wife was visiting friends tonight, and realized a couple of hours later that ONE headlight was on. The car was off, locked, and the headlamp switch set to "Auto" It was still light outside when she parked, so the lights weren't on when she went inside.

Also, the car would not start. Called roadside assistance, and they jumped it. The car was manufactured 5/2005, but we bought 1/31/06 - so it sat up for several months... probably being discharged to near nothing and then jump started on the lot several times - so I'm not surprised. The one headlight thing was interesting though... has anyone else seen this in a low voltage situation?

A.............dealership!

Take your sedan back to the dealership for a new
battery and they'll check out the other issues you
might have!

Just talked to my wife. They load tested the battery, alternator, diode ripple, etc... everything checked out fine. I charged the battery last night to make sure it would start this morning (so that I wouldn't have to get up as early as she does or let her drive my Q to work )

Maybe that was a mistake... in any case we get to wait until it breaks again. Next time I'll have them tow it to the dealership rather than jump starting it...

That's a wierd one, bro.....My guess is charging system, battery, or Body Control Module malfunction. (some of which have been ruled out).

Well, as I suspected the battery has cratered. I was in the garage today and noticed a weird chrystalized stain on the floor. When the wife got home I checked and the battery is boiling over. I wonder if they topped it off yesterday at the dealership. Anyhow... I guess that's what warranties are for.

Talk about thrilled... now I have a practically brand new car with corrosion and acid damage! Also found that the dealership broke one of the clips that holds the battery cover on. That continues their streak of never, ever, not even once putting one of my cars back together with all of the parts! Not once since 1996! Is it any wonder I do all of my own maintenence!

That said, I doubt service at any other dealership is any better - and I love these cars!
