that's a good question. i bet they're at the crank, which gives this engine marginably better performance. at the wheels and it's putting out supercharger like #'s, at least stillen stage 2 #'s.

I'm curious as to the compatibility among the various motors. Since the S1 cams are pretty useless on a RevUp, could you do a piece-meal approach and avoid some of the cost? I'm not sure how the RevUp vavle-springs/retainers, etc. compare to those in this package as well.

Personally, the heads, upgraded vavles (etc.) and connecting rods are of the most interest to me... ...as well as the ECU IF it works on our USDM models without issue. I'm staying NA, and these would compliment the MREV+, headers and cats nicely.

The Cosworth heads might be another good alternative. I know I trust their experience. Here's the link and description:

http://www.cosworth.com/shop_item.php?productid=442

Cosworth VQ35 CNC ported cylinder heads feature dyno tested and flow bench proven ports, engineered for maximum real world power. Each new cylinder head is ported on a 5 axis machine to ensure consistency and perfect port shape every time. Additionally, larger intake (+1mm) and exhaust valves (+1mm) are utilized to help increase flow. Cosworth CNC ported Big Valve cylinder heads come complete with a performance valve job, hi rev (max 10,500rpm) valve springs with titanium retainers and are ready to install. Perfect for big turbo applications or strong normally aspirated engines. Nissan VQ35 heads are priced for the pair. A flow chart for the head is available by downloading the technical document on the left.

Specification

CNC Ported/machine finished ports - New OE Castings

Hand blended finish work

Intake 19% Increased Flow (max)

Exhaust 22% Increased Flow (max)

4-angle Inlet Valve job

3-angle & radiused Exhaust Valve job

Valves are lapped

Back-Cut Inlet Valves

Heads are Ultra Sonic cleaned prior to assembly

Heads are Serialized and sport a machined Cosworth logo

+1mm Stainless Steel Intake Valves (1800 degrees max.)

+1mm Inconel Exhaust Valves (2400 degrees max.)

Performance Valve Springs

Titanium Retainers

Hardened Steel Spring Platforms

Knife Edge port divider

10,500rpm?!?! Talk about RevUp.

I highly doubt its a crank, because it would mean you actually LOST torque due to this set up.
320 at the wheels is what I would expect from this set up, though the redline isn't much higher, but I think through the tuning the power band is extremely linear and thus producing more power at every band.

I do wonder how the cosworth can be set up to run at that high rev application? new pistons might be needed?

note the dyno chart, I just noticed that it makes 320ps on a regular motor and 325ps on the 35th anniversary motor? I suppose that means revup gets 5 more hp?

Cosworth does offer their line of pistons. They look pretty stout. Again, they've got great experience. They offer the following pistons:

Turbo/Supercharger Low Compression - 8.8:1 95.5mm and 96mm
High-power NA High Compression - 11:1 95.5mm and 96mm

I like the lower compression of 11:1 compared to the NISMO-spec 12:1. Again, I'm not sure what sort of power the specs translate to so I'm not certain on how it compares to the NISMO.

why do you like the lower compression? I don't have experties on this, but from what I know is that as long as you are not turbo/supercharge your motor, high compression yields high hp with proper tuning? is 12 just a little too high?

For me, in the desert of West Texas (104 degrees today), going really high compression would run similar risks as FI. It just gets too hot out here to run things that close to the edge. In a better climate, with good quality fuel, I'd go for the 12:1 (but FI would probably would have been a priority). As a daily driver, the 11:1 would be better during the summer. Of course, the 12:1 or FI would be great during the winter, but winter doesn't seem to last too long around here.

The OEM compression is already at the higher end.

OEM is around 10.5 I think? or slight less, Since it's nearly always winter here, 12:1 wouldn't be a big deal then. Plus they sell 100 octane fuel here sometimes.

Hmm. I've been communicating w/ bulletproof automotive and they claim the s1 is for G35 and the s2 is for the z, but I know for a fact that the s1 can be installed on both the z and g35, but have not had any confirmation on whether the s2 set would fit on our G's. I think the better answer is that each are different stages of builds--the s2 came out after the s1 and produces more power... But a quote from bulletproof for the s1 kit for the g is higher than the s2 kit they sell! I was sent this info on the s1:

The S1 includes the following:
Intake/Exhaust Camshafts
VTC Body
Connecting Rods Bolts
Intake Pipe
MAF adapter
Air Funnel
Valvesprings
ECU
Air Filter
Iridium Spark Plugs
CF Engine Cover
Weldina Sports Catalyzer
Weldina Muffler
Lightweight Flywheel
This kit lists at $12558.00, we can do $11302.20.

The s2 includes:
Nismo Tuned ECU
High Performance Heads
High Strength Head Gasket
Cams
Valves
Valve Springs
Retainers
Intake Box
Sports Filter
Intake Tube
Carbon Intake Duct
Iridium Spark Plugs
Connecting Rod Bolts
Oil pan baffle plate
Carbon Engine Cover
List price: $11,602.50, we can do $10,094.17

"The parts you’re referring to from Japan Parts are just Nismo parts that they’re probably picking up from a dealership. We’re purchasing direct through Nismo so we need to follow their policies."
