This weekend sucked.......

First I go out to dinner on Saturday and afterwards, I am standing in front of my car and the guy who parked next to me comes out of the restaurant and, long story short, proceeds to hit my car with his door and put two dings in the passenger side door.

Then after realizing the door speakers are 6.5", I remember I have Infinity component speakers in my attic from a previous vehicle. So on Sunday I decide to install them. Get the drivers side in and then while working on the passenger side, finishing up the last screw, the phone rings (its my wife), the screwdriver slips and puts a small tear in the rubber surround. So much for that I guess.

I am so pissed right now, I needed to vent somwhere.

Sorry to hear man. I hate when I drop tools though. I've nicked my wheels dropping the socket a couple of times. And I have more nicks on the interior for being careless when taking apart the car.

Sorry to hear about the door dings and the screwdriver mishap. Look for a local PDR (paintless dent removal) dealer. Should cost you nomore than $100 to pop them out.

I already called about paintless dent removal. Hopefully I can get that done on Wednesday. More importantly, hopefully the guy who did it will pay for it. I might be more pissed about the speaker right now though b/c what was going to be a no cost to me simple upgrade, as I already have 6.5" speakers, is now either going to cost me to get new component speakers or use the tweeter and 2 way speakers off the crossover in the front, as I have 2 pairs of 2 way 6.5" laying around from previous vehicles or put the factory speakers back in and live with it.

you can fix a torn surround easily with some silicone sealant (or even rubber cement in a pinch).

if the cone is torn you're out of luck though.

I've had MANY MANY of those days - i take the Cartman approach on those days...

"screw u guyz, I'm going home.." meaning I say F it and take a long break from doing anything..

sorry buddy - take a fresh look at the issues in a couple of days and I'm sure you'll work out a solution..

Did you see your car being dinged.........?

I actually saw this asian chick kick her truck door
open so hard it stuck in the rear quarter of my 300ZX.
I was so upset, pissed, mad and freaked out I didn't
ask her husband for his car insurance. I paid a dent
removal dude $85 for each panel to ace out my Z
just prior to selling it......worth every cent!

Maybe others' misery will cheer you up.

I just ran over a SHOE in the middle of the road. Could not avoid it. I was moving slow (15-20) but it hit the bottom of my NISMO bumper and must have shoved it up into the bottom of the headlight just slightly. I now have tiny, spiderweb cracks in the paint right under the headlight (along the curve). They're not that noticeable, but still, the bumper hasn't been on for more than 8 months. I was going to have it repainted at some point anyway, as it has 5 chips and needs the LP holes filled, but still. Just can't avoid some things... ...like shoes . At least I'm not lowered. That would have really fuched me up!

In the end, it can be repaired. Until then, I'm working on that authentic, drift look for the front end. I'm just a curb-bash away from getting it too.

Smile Clear nail polish, enamel

Clear nail polish enamel works as well to fix the cone or surrounds. I've done it a couple times and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the silicone sealant and nail polish enamel tip. I will try one or both and see if it works. The rubber surround has the tear in it and I tried using weather stripping adhesive as a quick fix, but it was too messy and so I tried putting electrical tape over it and although it sounded fine at the house......as soon as I drove to work this morning, I could hear the buzz/cracking. So on lunch I replaced them with the 2-way 6.5" speakers I was going to put in the rear doors. Now I just have to get back into the attic and get the other pair out to put in the rear doors.

Thanks again for the tips.

Yeah...I was standing there with my wife talking to my brother and his wife. I had a feeling it was going to happen and so we were watching.....so I guess I should have gotten in my car and moved it until they left. As soon as it happend my wife said, "they just hit your car." I went and looked at it and the guy looked at me like I was crazy. So he had to open the door up against my car again to prove it too himself that he just put the dents in my car. I was not going to ask him for his information as I figured it would be about $100 to fix, but the guy whose car it was, I think it was his dad who actually did the damage, said I guess you want my insurance card...I said I better take it and he gave me his business card. I had my digital camera in the car so I snapped a couple pics of his license plate as he left and the damage to my car. It just sucked as I have only had the car 5 weeks now and my wife is still giving me crap for buying it as it was used and my brother got a new Ford Focus for the same price.
