Sad... Too Young

A recent news article from our local paper: Please, everyone, just slow down.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a passenger dead Saturday night north of Auburn, authorities said.
A 21-year-old Auburn man was speeding southbound on Bell Road in a 2004 Infiniti G35 at about 11:30 p.m., CHP officials said in a press release. Just south of Hubbard Road, the driver lost control of the Infiniti, went off the road and struck several trees.

The only passenger, Stewart Lee Shapton, 20, of Auburn, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with major injuries, CHP officials said.
Both Shapton and the driver were wearing seatbelts. It has not been determined whether drugs or alcohol played a factor.

My condolences go out to the young mans family.
I've been doing a lot of thinking myself.
Decided to quit before it's too late.
Like my friend used to say, don't play with your luck, one day it might just run out.

Very unfortunate - nobody wants that. Really hard driving only belongs on an Auto-cross. Spirited driving on light traffic roads in the day time. I think someone put it best by saying totally avoidable. But who knows until it is too late. Let's stay safe folks!

Tragic accident, but it goes to show how quickly things can go wrong. Young and older drivers alike need to discern to learn when the limits are being pushed.

Very sad story,

I like to think I have more self-control every year I grow older, but at 27 I still do stupid things once in a while... it's easy to get carried away behind the wheel

I think its bull that they had to report that he was speeding down the highway. Even if he was, the kid died, didnt harm anyone else. Let him be, no need to try to rub his name in the mud. They could have easily omitted that out of the news.
