Congratulate me because I'm the sh1t.

That's right everybody I rock and you all suck. I just got gas yesterday and with my awesome calculations I broke a new record for myself. Thats right, a whopping 18mpg woohoo. Thats with maybe 30% highway driving. But seriously how in the hell do people actually get 20+mpg. This is sad because 18 mpg is really my all time high, I've only had the car for like 4 months, but still.

Shift around 2 k until you get to 6th gear and keep the speed around 70-75 for about 400 miles and you'll get it in the mid 20mph ;) :D

funniest thing... i average about 18.1 mpg driving like more than 50% highway. I let my friend drive my car today and he decided to punch it and see how the car really handles. After the end of his drive, my car was averaging 7.1 mpg.... not on highway. lol. we laughed at first, but then my car needed gas, but its all good. Apparently our cars are pretty fast, lol

for those that know how many mpg they packing, that must mean you have the navi screen. i manage to top at 19.5 mpg when driving efficiently. teach yourself to use that leave like indicator on the navi screen, and youll eventually pull in good mileage. tip. everytime you accerlerate, that help reduces your mileage to low and lower. stay above 20 bar in the leave like screen indecator and youll get very good mileage.

Navi says I'm doing 22.5mpg average, I only check it maybe once a week. But actual mileage, I get to 400 miles on the tank before I fill up, assuming it was bone dry that would be 20mpg, so I'm getting a little better than that. Couldn't tell you how I do it though, I normally cruise through town doing 50mph in 4th gear, only put it in 6th when I am doing 60+.

mrjonang Jun 19, 2006 10:02 PM

On the highway driving "normally" i can get 20+, but once i hit local and also drive "normally" it goes down to 18-20 range. But usually i like the drive "my way" and i average around 15-17. lol. So i could get better mileage i just chose not to at times.

This friend of mine showed me the best way to check your MPG

First you fill your tank up, at that time hit your trip meter, then drive your car until you need to fill up again, I usually do it at 1/2 tank
you fill the tank back up, making sure to get the gallon amount you just added off of the pump.
now you have the gallons you used plus the milage you used it in
it is easy to just divide the amount of milage from your trip meter by the amount of gallons it just took to fill your tank back up.

Now you have your exact MPG, I have been doing this the past few times hitting the trip meter each time.
I have gotten as low as 15 and as high as 20, depending on my driving (highway or around town)

I always seem to get between 23 and 24 MPG consistently the entire time I've owned my car. Almost every time I check my Nav's fuel economy gauge, it's at 23.7 MPG... and I check it all the time.

I drive the car a lot harder now than I did when I first got it too, and my economy is about the same. I do have a Z-Tube, Motordyne spacer and a K&N filter too.. which definitely got me about 2 MPG across the board based on the metrics I jotted down over the life of the car.

The highway fuel economy seems like it should be higher though. According to my Nav, I usually get around 24 MPG highway at like 70 MPH... which isn't too bad, but if you do 80/85, it's more like 22 MPG.

Yeah thats pretty how I figure my mileage out. Assuming I do really have a 20 gallon tank. I was at 288 miles when I got more gas. A fill up required 16 gallons. So a whole 288/16=18. I usually try and drive like a grandma but for the first time in awhile I saw empty freeway and longs stretches of straight empty street. I couldn't help myself. I also have bigger wheels so I'm assuming that hurts my mileage as well. I'm going to assume that they take at least 1-2mpg of my total. Hopefully I should be around the 20 mark. I def call BS on the sticker of 25-30mpg.

So you bought a 300hp, 3500 lb sports car for the mileage?

Perhaps the Honda Insight or Toyota Prius may have been the better way to go?

Hang out with Excursion owners- nuthin'll make you feel better faster about how good your mileage is ;)

Cheers,

Not quite that bad.

Just traded my '05 H2 in for an '06 fully loaded IP coupe.

The H2 got me 10-13 mpg. But hey, if you can afford an H2...honestly, the gas mileage isn't a big deal.
