From what ive seen been done a detailers i would recommend doing it yourself. And depending on how detailed you are (which i am) you cut no corners. first you wash, then clay, use a paint cleaner, polish, and wax, which i do with pads cause you need to know what your doing when using a buffer, and have a good one. and depending on what kind of wax you use, i just put on meguires nxt, and that works pretty good, so does zymol, but its harder to buff out. all this stuff together your looking to spend around $70

Well, if money is not going to be a problem (and time is), of course you can have someone do it for you, I'm sure they will do a fine job when paying upwards of $100. IMO, I think that doing it yourself has a bunch of things that come with it, you know every part of your car, have experience in taking care of it, and especially having pride in seeing the results of what you did(interior and exterior).

$160 is pretty cheap and I guess it depends on what you consider detail. There is a local shop here who keeps your car overnight and charges $300+ for a car and more for an SUV. He starts with stripping the wax, clay bar, scratch removal, synthetic wax and then all the trim. I'd be more inclined to hand my sedan over to him and let him go to town. If you've never detailed a car you probably would be satisfied with your ride if he does the tasks listed.
