I tried a search on this and apologize if this question has been asked before.

I was wondering if anyone has try using a CD-RW disc in the CD player. I want to be able to reuse my mp3 discs instead of buring new ones (and of course, throwing the old ones away...)

 

I use burned cds on my cd player. Works just fine. I don't know if it plays mp3

 

I use burned CDs as well, no it does not play MP3 at least in the 03 and 04 models.

 

I tried playing a burnt CD-RW disc but it couldn't read it in my 03. Of course, CD-R discs play with no problem. I am not sure about 04-06 models......someone else will have to chime in on that.

Btw, he is not asking if it plays MP3s, he is asking if it will play CD-RW discs.

 

considering the cost of a cd-r being a few pennies usually, why would you want to use a cd-rw? and if you already have some, why don't you just burn one on your cd-rw and try to play it?

not sure about cd-rw but definitely cd-r on my 06 (w/out bose)

Well, for a couple of reasons:
a. I don't already own CD-RW blanks so I would have to go out and buy some.
b. I was trying to do my little part in saving the environment, instead of burning and throwing away the discs, I thought may be I can try re-using the same one over and over.

cd-rws aren't great for most car audio situations because you have to worry about not scratching them etc, with cd-rs, you can just burn a new one if it gets damaged etc. The cost of a cd-rw will likely be in the $4-5 range, which will almost by you a stack of 50 cd-r, or at least a 25pk. At this time you aren't even sure if it plays cd-rws, which vary by manufacturer, so you may end up having to try multiple brands before you find one that works. Just because it works on one person's car doesn't mean it will work on all cars. Burned cd-rws are very picky about players etc. Just use cd-rs

love the MP3 playback on my '06.... '05-up had the feature. if you want to scroll through the file names, artists, folder names just hold the "DISP" button for a few seconds and it'll scroll through each data name.

'03-'04 you're out of luck

 

Its kinda lame that it won't display the text constantly though, so I have to constantly hit the disp button to look at which folders I want to listen to.

 

yes i agree with you on that even w/ satellite radio it's the same effect. only on a FM station does it automatically scroll.

 

I have 6 TDK CD-RW's in my bose headunit ('05). They work perfectly. As I acquire additional music, I simply add them to one of the CDRW's. If I burned a new CDR everytime I wanted to add music, I'd have gone through about a hundred wasted CDR's. CDRW is the way to go. If you scratch it, I'm sure you have the files/music on a hard drive somewhere to burn another one if needed.

 

Yep I use em and they are fine in my '06 AT Coupe. Yes I can play mp3's and WMA'S too.If you find they skip, then try using the slowest burn speed you can in your burner software ( like Nero ) or try different media.
