What's the difference?

I'm confused as to what Nissan/Infiniti did to the VQ to add more power and change the redline on the '06 coupe vs. the older sedans. I'm tryin to figure that out and, if it's not to expensive/hard, I might do those changes to my engine along w/ MREV2 and 5/16 iso spacers.

Thanks!

do you have a 6mt or 5at?

ChiefyMan Aug 26, 2006 02:17 AM

5AT in my sedan... is that the main difference or what?

Calvin Aug 26, 2006 03:18 AM

youre talking about revup engines which are available on the 05 and 06 models

but all autos that i know of are nonrevup

if you want to raise your rev limiter then i think youd have to take it to technosquare if im not mistaken

Calvin Aug 26, 2006 03:19 AM

btw, if you do take it to technosquare i would take it to them after doing all your mods so they can adjust your ecu only once

ive never looked into TS in depth but im sure its not cheap

Ya, ECU reflash would definately be my last step.

abcquackyxyz Aug 26, 2006 04:18 AM

yeah ecu reflash are worth it but pretty pricey.

I just got my car back from the dealership yesterday after having them replace the entire motor in my 04 coupe MT for warranty porposes. . They wouldn't tell me what year the new motor was exactly, so, is it likely that they put in an 06 motor or a fresh 04 one? They put the stillen clutch/flywheel in at the same time (why not..). But, I had this exact same question, is it in the ECU, throttlebody, valving, compression, or what? If anyone knows the exact reasoning behind the addition of power, please let me know. thanks.

^^are you chinese?

All AT's are non rev ups.

In a nutshell, the Rev-Up motor includes variable exhaust cam timing, better rod bolts, revised higher flowing intake manifold, and a higher redline. The engine trades low end torque for higher rpm power. In an automatic, you'd be slower with the 298hp Rev-Up engine hence the reason the motor is only offered with the 6MT.

What makes the power difference between an 04 6MT, and an 05 6MT? Not talking about AT. Anyone know?
