Obviously there are some speculations floating around because last week they said Ford and GM might merge.

Personally, I don't want Nissan to be affilated with GM. They obviously are targeting a company that doesn't have much presence in the US as far as factories go (or do they?), compared to Honda, Toyota and the likes.
