Question 1/4 mile tips

I am looking to get some few pointers for dragging on the 1/4 mile. I have coupe 6mt and was wondering what typically rpm should you launch at. Does it make a big difference by airing down the tires. Any tips will help.

It was my first time on the track and the car has 3000 miles on it.
The first time I forgot to turn off the VDC and ran a 15.197 @ 94.84 mph
The second run I turned of the VDC and gave it way to much gas and spun the tire like no other and ran a 15.149 @ 95.99
The last run I didn't launch at all and just started very slow so I wouldn't spin the tires and ran a 14.941 @ 96.33
I believe my RT was slow (.5) all three times and was wondering if I get my RT times lower how much would this help my 1/4 time.

I dont think the reaction time is taken into consideration in your overall 1/4 mile time. You could have a 5 second reaction time, the 1/4 mile time doesn't start until you hit the gas. You will have just given the guy in the other lane a 5 second head start.

If you watch on test and tune nights, there are some drivers that wait on purpose for the other lane to launch, then they launch after. That way they can just concentrate on their own driving and launching...

I launch my car around 3k, but lately with these new tires (Volk's with 295's in the rear) ; i'm not sure... But stock 19's i launched around 3k and got a 60ft at 2.295... Not too bad, my 1/4 time is 13.9@ 103... If i can get a better launch i should be in the mid to high 13's espically with my trap speed... I ran my car at Sacramento Raceway by the way.... I also have Injen intake, MREV, and hf cats...

You should be able to see what your car can really pull if u hit a 2.1. i havent gotten there yet myself as i have raced my car all of 4 times and started with a 2.5 60ft ended the night w/ a 2.3.. couple more pulls and i should be there myself. it takes much practice. good luck
