Rear-View Mirror Light Modification?
Rear-View Mirror Light Modification?
I did a quick search to no avail.
If you have ever sat in an M3 or cayenne at night, you'll notice that there is a (red) light shining down over the radio/shifter area. I was wondering if it was possible to somehow put an M3/cayenne mirror on our cars, or if anyone has ever attempted to install a similar amber bulb?
*edit*
After a more thorough search, I found this. It doesn't really help me, because you can see the lights, but it gives you an idea of what I want. Has anyone else attempted to do this mod?

I've seen this before on new(er) BMW's and some Toyotas (like the '07 Solara). There's an LED in the mirror that shines down on the center console. In the Solara, the LED stays on all the time the car is running (independent of exterior lighting, etc.)
Since there is power to the autodim rearview mirror already in place in the G35, I guess it would be possible to install a downward shining LED in it.

light on mirror
My 04 TL have to blue light that's shinning down on the center console. There is a diy on this site. I did have something similar on my g35 but not on the mirror. I have installed two blue leds into the overhead dome light. The sad thing is they're always on. But they only using 1-200 mV and can't see much of it during the day time anyway. Only visible at night..
