Yeah, I sat there for a good 20 minutes checking it out when I got my car. I couldn't believe it was only the little hole that opened to the trunk. I wondered what retard was drinking on the job that day it was designed.

 

I test drove a number of sedans before getting the 2007 G35. Interestingly, most of the cars' rear seats don't fold down. A common reason why not is to increase crash worthiness in crash tests.

 

That sounds like the biggest load of bull.... Were salemen telling you that?

 

Not just car salesman, but other sources (e.g. Consumer Reports) and tests validated the cars' claims. The cars whose rear seats don't fold down (at least the few that claimed it was done for crash worthiness) have additional metal supports/bars on their rear seats to help protect the rear passengers in case of a crash.
