Truth to tint rumors

I was told that cops everywhere target cars with tint, regardless if they are illegal tint or not, true or not? Do they espcially look for younger drivers with tint?

well most of my friends have had tint on there cars for years and I've had mine for a few months already and have seen numerous cops with no problems. I have 20% all around and thats illegal. The only problem so far was when my friend got pulled over for speeding and got a ticket for illegal tint in the process (reflective). I also live in Houston so I think the police here are a little more understanding when it comes to lower % tint. And I'm 19 so I don't think age has anything to do with it

in Cali (at least that i'm aware of...not sure of other states) any tint on the front windows is illegal. That being said, i don't think cops will pull you over strictly for tint, unless you do something to get their attention (revving your engine, overly loud exhaust, bumping system, etc). But if you do get pulled over, i'd expect them to issue you a tint violation in the process.

Oh, and i read somewhere that if you get into an accident, the other party could sue you if you have tinted windows?????

I've noticed that police here in Boston pull over a lot of vehicles with tint. I've been pulled over specifically for tint and advised thats why I have been stopped. Down goes the window, up goes the meter and sorry to bust your bubble Mr. Officer but my tint is legal. If my understanding is correct though, once you are in the system for a certain traffic stop ie: you get pulled over and given a warning about it, if you get pulled over for the same thing they can ticket you and there really is know excuse such as oh I didn't know, but if you are legal and they run your tags they wont bother you.

I think they would have a bit more curiosity about tint than non-tinted but it depends on the cop.

Age and tint........

Being young is a flag for the cops to watch you very close. Between my
16th birthday and my 19th I had accumulated 27 moving violations. My
Dad was very happy when I turned 18 so he didn't have to attend juvy
court with me. I got stopped once driving my new car home for nothing!
My last big ticket was on the freeway for 10mph over, tint and no front
license plate. I was in the #2 lane going with the flow of traffic while
cars in the #1 lane were passing me big time. I asked the CHP officer why
he stopped me since people were passing me? His answer was "gotta stop
someone!" A lot has to do with age and what you're driving and how!

Look at it from their perspective:

What are you trying to hide?
Personally, I'm trying to hide how ugly I am.

ANYTHING that isn't normal will attract attention.

At what point in the month do the reason for which you are issued tickets go from "I broke the law" to "it's quota time"?

according to what my traffic school instructor told me, say a cop issued 10 tickets in Feb., there's a certain expectation that the cop will issue another 10 tickets in March. It's one of those "old wives tales" if you may, but it's there.

So to answer your question, the first and last week of the month is when cops tend to give tickets...again, according to my instructor.

No, you did not answer my question. I did not ask you, "According to your civilian traffic instructor, when do cops write tickets?"

I asked you,"At what point in the month do the reason for which you are issued tickets go from "I broke the law" to "it's quota time"? "

Tinted windows are more common than not in my town, so it would be out of the norm for you NOT to have your windows tinted lollll!
