+1 Also, I'm a big fan of Chevron gas, having done some research on analysis, it's pretty good.

Yes !!!! or buy a car that doesn't require high test . Really though, your performance will suffer in the long run.

it would be around 4 dollars a tank more(taking account that 91 is usually 20 cents more than 87) dont be a cheapskate... better performance with higher octane and no worries about using lower grade gas.. plus the manufacturer recommends 91 and says to research 96

+1 to all of this, I use Chevron premium as well and around the time I switched is when my mileage started going up, coincidence maybe. My biggest car pet peeve is I cant stand hearing people in my office that own $50,000 SUVs bitching about the price of gas and asking me if they can "get away with" putting regular in. All to save a few bucks a tank.

Thanks everyone. I was just curious to see what gas everyone was putting in. Sounds like I should go premium! If people are bitching now, wait till the summer hits and we go to $4.00 a gallon!

Oh well, if I wanted good mileage, I would have bought a Toyota Yaris.

the G35s have knock sensor

you can put low grade fuel...
but your car will be slower (barely noticible) and have worse gas milege

therefore...just put in premium.

if your stuck somewhere there is no premium, you can fill a tank with mid grade and your car wont go boom boom

I agree with Premium being no big deal anymore. In the 90s when you paid just 90 cents per gallon for unleaded, adding another 15-20 cents for Premium seemed to be a lot. But now, 20 cents extra when gas itself is 2.50 -3.00, no big difference in terms of percentages of what we pay.

I do have a question. If one really wants to save so badly, can that person just mix 89(plus) and 93(super) half and half to give a 91 OCtane at the pump and save a few bucks?

In California, the premium is 91, so you should have no problem mixing, but I bet you would get slightly better performance and mileage to just stick with the 93. I would use 93 if I had a choice, but I don't.

LOL, always thought about doing that, but the starting of the pump twice and swiping the card twice isn't worth the $0.92 savings!
