IMHO I think it should work fine like that.

How do you plan on cutting it? I don't think it'll be an easy job unless you have a plasma cutter or something. It's a solid piece of cast iron! You can also buy smaller 2 ton jack stands that don't have that big dip.

I think he is doing it that way so he can place them at the same place on the side sills where the jacking points are.

If you do cut them, please grind down the edges so that they're not sharp. Freshly cut metal will nick, dent, and score everything.

People in the past have purchased a piece of oak, and cut it to fit in the saddle of the jack, then shaped the oak pc. so it fits the jacking point exactly.....in your case it looks like a round pc would work great.

It would allow you to still use the jack stands for other purposes, and you can use the oak mod for your G......just a suggestion.

PS they also make adapters for floorjacks so they too will fit the jacking points as well.

Don't do it...go to your local sports store and buy a hockey puck. I've been doing this for years. It protects your car and it's very easy.

I really like the OPs idea and I think I am going to do the same with a set of my axle stands, but I will line the cut end with heavy rubber.
