VDC off experiences

I just wanted to know what people's experiences were with VDC turned off. I tried searching this forum, but couldn't find any threads started with this so I apologize if I missed it or if I didn't select the right options in the advanced search. Anyways, I just wanted to know when/where people's best experiences were driving with VDC turned off. Your thoughts appreciated

your tires spin and car goes sideways.

If you gonna be stupid about it. You might end up like many did on this board, in a ditch, in a poll, in some parked car or worse.

I always drive with VDC off..........Even in the rain.

I once hit the gas hard on a slick road (lousy asphalt) in the rain, with the VDC off - as an experiment. I got my answer - don't do that again...

Seriously, VDC is there to help you. If you really know what you're doing, and you're paying attention, VDC off in dry conditions can be fun. But even then, just experimenting in parking lots to learn the car, I've been surprised.

So best bet, leave it on unless you have a lot of experience with beyond-normal driving, you understand the car, and you have good road conditions. Otherwise you're pretty much asking for it...

I pretty much just use it for my "spirited driving" in manual mode. There is definitely a difference, and you can feel the power all the way through the throttle instead of it easing off. Most of the time I drive with it on though, because if I'm not in the mood to really stick it to the road then I don't notice the difference and might as well use the safety feature just in case.

Thank you for all the feedback. I think our cars are as fun to drive even with it on, so you've all made a great point that to just use the extra precaution and safety feature since it's there. I just love this car more and more every single day

I was glad mine was on the other day when I lost traction trying to switch lanes in traffic in heavy rain. The system allows for quite a bit more rotation before stepping in as opposed to my previous car. (Mk4 Jetta - ESP)

It is a nice feature to have, especially on a RWD car.

yah vdc is a pretty dang good thing. yesterday was the first day of rain in many months here in soCAL, so my friends and I went wet drifting on some empty parking lots. because our cars have so much torque, the vdc keeps the tires from spinning to wildly. IT IS PRETTY FUN THOUGH

in the rain it's a must (unless you are foolish)... On dry road it can be obtrusive. When I had open differential it would kick in every moderately spirited turn. I have Quaife now so I turn it off almost always when it's dry. The Quaife keeps me from getting loose and I don’t have to worry about the damn VDC taking over.

It's a quick reminder that our car's have a decent amount of power, whenever you get used to your coupe and think its slow, take vdc off for a bit

Funny, but when I turn off the VDC on my 07 G35x, my steering seems a little tighter. My imagination?

During dry conditions, I have it off 95% of the time. Like OCG35 stated, it can be very obtrusive. I have the experience to know how my car reacts and know what to do during those conditions... but I always leave my VDC on during rainy/moist conditions.

That's what you get for driving it through an automatic car wash!

I am using 245/45/18 at all four corners with Stillen bar med/med. I find that VDC allows little bit more side way before stepping in as opposed to the stock suspension setup which intervenes a bit too soon than I would like.
