Anyone has this experience before

The G35 has the light sensor, so the brightness of the panel(speed meter, temperature panel...) will automatically changed itself. But sometimes if you go under the high way or bridge. It's just 1 second of passing. The sensor will sense it's dark and turn the penal into dark mode. But just at the time it change to dark mode, the car just past the high way(or bridge). In this case, sometimes the sensor will not sense it's bright again or something else. The panel is not coming back to bright mode.

It only happened once since I bought the car, have you guys seen this situation before?

Thanks.

The sensor could be malfunctioning.....

Do Not leave the light switch in the auto position if you don't want the lights to go on under every bridge/tunnel/overpass.

The reason your dash lights are dimming is because the panel lights dim when the headlights are turned on....Test it yourself be turning them on manually during the daylight....it will dim your dash/radio. If when you shut the lights off the panel still stays dark, then it could be the dash sensor...Nothing on there blocking it? Is your front windshield tinted? Something could be causing a false reading.
Hope this helps

You think probably i didn't wait enough time for it to re-detect?

When I noticed it didn't come bright again, i waited about 5 seconds. Then I switch the headlight off and then switch it on again myself, it did come back to bright mode.

You think the sensor is malfunctioning? But normally it's fine, and it only happened once.

There are 2 cases:

Drove into dark area -> sensor sensed night time -> switch panel and headlight into night mode WHEN I AM STILL AT THE DARK AREA = it works fine, will switch back to daytime mode when I go to another bright area

Drove into dark area -> sensor sensed night time -> switch panel and headlight into night mode I JUST PAST THE DARK AREA AND BACK TO BRIGHT AREA = does not switch back to daytime mode, sensor computer confused!?

Yep, probably would have changed back in a bit. It takes longer to change depending on how bright it is outside and if the roof is casting a shadow on the dashboard where the sensor is. Once my headlights didn't turn off for quite a while because I was driving away from the sun in the late aftenoon and there was a dark shadow on the front of the dashboard.
