Hell no - I love my car, it's just about as fast as the G37, and it has four doors. Like Mikey said, the only thing I'd like is the iPod interface.

Fixed. Remember that our 4 doors are about 100 lbs. lighter. The 3.7 may make 24 more hp but it peaks 200 rpm higher than the 3.5. And while its peak torque figure is 2 ft-lbs higher than that of the Sedan, it requires another 400 rpm before it hits that peak. All of the additional power the 3.7 makes is strictly top end which is odd considering that it's a stroker version of the 3.5L. Generally speaking, you go with a stroker motor for better bottom end torque which is what the G37 really needs to get it's fat butt off the line quickly.

On a side note, I really want to see the 3.5 HR's torque curve on the same graph as the 3.7 VHR's.

Having driven both and now owning a G37S 6mt, the 3.7 does in fact have noticeable greater low end torque. Also, VVEL makes the engine feel very lively... it basically feels like a VTEC transition but at any RPM if you put our foot down. The 37 might not be any "faster" but it sure feels like it. =)

BTW we have our first 1/4 mile runs videos finally on myg37.com. G37 5AT, fully stock, 13.9 @ 101mph with a fairly rookie driver. Car&Driver lists the 2007 G35 Sedan 6MT at 13.9 @ 103mph. I think maybe the G37 is a little under-rated performance-wise if the 5AT is that close to the 6MT sedan professionally driven?

Approximately the same performance plus a back seat that will hold 2 adults and a trunk with double the volume that may be needed for a trip. The is no question of what I will buy.

The VVEL definitely improves throttle response and although the peak torque figure didn't increase by much, the curve is flatter which accounts for why the Coupe "feels faster." Still, in terms of numbers the Coupe is no faster than the Sedan judging by what we've seen so far. If anything, they're probably neck and neck. There's a reason Infiniti only put the 3.7 into the Coupe...those 100 or so lbs. do make a difference.

As for the numbers being a 6M/T Sedan vs. a 5A/T Coupe, I'd like to see a 6M/T Sedan vs. a 6M/T Coupe and a 5A/T Sedan vs. a 5A/T Coupe. IIRC the 5A/Ts in the V36s have shorter 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears than the 6M/T which really narrows the gap between the 6M/T and the 5A/T. Couple that with the fact that the 6M/T is actually heavier than the 5A/T and the gap gets even smaller.

just saw the first g37 in my city today outside of golds gym. wasnt impressed at all. thought that the styling would grow on me but no way. looks retarded from the front. ill admit the side profile is sick buts thats about it. really looks feminine. and guess what? a 30 yr old girl was driving it. not that thats a bad thing, but that does say something bout the car. i RARELY see girls in g coupes (actually never seen one in my area) and to see the first g37 and a girl driving it? good job infiniti.

Hey, thanks guys, especially bruddahmanmatt, for helping out with the decision-making process. You've pretty much guessed everything correct about my car. A $10 K loss sure as hell isn't worth it. And like a couple of you guys said, the biggest appeal about the G37 to me was the iPod interface. That's the only reason I miss my old '97 Camry--is because of the iPod compatible Alpine CD deck. haha. But I think I'm still going to go the dealership and see what they can do for me. I say what the heck, it's not gonna hurt to try. Anything less than a $2 K loss and I'm on it...although I now know that that's HIGHLY unlikely. I'll post to let y'all know how I came out. Thanks again guys for the help.

FWIW, I inquired with my dealer about trading in my back then, 3-month old 5AT sedan (3000 miles on the odo) for a new 6MT sedan - same year model.

Quote: "you're looking at around $5,000 hit on the trade-in".

I actually did a test drive yesterday. It was incredible. I drove a 6MT model with Nav and Prem. It was awesome!!

I posted up my impression on myG37.com and was actually hesitating if I should trade in my car...... My roommate calls me crazy. LOL

Anyways, how many of you would actually trade in your fairly "NEW" G35 with a "BRAND SPANKING NEW" G37?

Your going to be buried. I purchased a 2k7, yes 2k7 Camry SE fully loaded with every option available. I paid $31k I believe. I traded it in 5 months later to Carmax for $23k. Carmax was $2k more than anyone else would give me. Your looking at a 10k hit at a minimum. It's not worth it. It's the same exact interior. You have more room and your car is just as fast and argueably more desireable to the masses.
