Brakes Very Long-Hawk HPS pads-I NEED HELP

I have read and reread that these brakes are suppose to be the easiest pad install ever. I had to take every caliper off the rotor which I have read that you do not have to do with the Brembo's. I am not new at chaning pads, I have changed MANY and these are by far the hardest I have ever done.

The front ones seem to be to wide by a few mm. I called the place where I got them to see if they mailed me the wrong ones and they told me they one pair out of a hundred are to wide and have to be shaved. The pass side I got to squeeze in with a rubber mallet and the plastic end of a snapon pry bar. However the drivers side will NOT go in. What is the little metal braket on the sides of the caliper that are screwed in with a torque bit. They are between the pad and the caliper. One of those is completely bent all to hell. I have to by a new one from Infiniti. Also when I took my wheel off my rotor came off as well. Is that normal? It didn't on any other wheels. On my Honda there was always a screw that held the rotor to the hub but there is not one on the G. I knew as soon as rotor came off that I was instore for a chore. I hate to admit this but I was out there today off an on for 4 1/2 hours. I got so mad that I almost beat my car with the pry bar. I changed my motor in my Honda quicker than it took my to put 6 pads in.

This was more of a rant/vent than a help thread. I really just need to know if you know what that metal clip is called so I can order the right piece tomorrow and if you have heard of Hawk HPS pads being to wide.

Also the metal/hard plastic shim do you have to have them on? What happens if you leave them off. I was thinking I might be able to get the pads in easier without it. Any idea what tool would I use to shave some of the pads down? I have a router and a cutting tool. I could proably get a wheel to put on it that could shave down.

O' and when I was trying to put my caliper and rotor back on so I could take the car off the jack stand for the evening the caliper would NOT bolt up right. When I bolted it up the rotor would turn and rub against the caliper. What is wrong, I am just retard? Any ideas/info will be greatly appreciated.
