Brakes Pros And Cons On 5at Compared To 6mt

Hey guys,

i am in the market for a g coupe and i cant decide on auto or manual tranny.. the roads in cayman are kinda crappy and there is SERIOUS traffic everywhere you go! thats why i was leaning more to AT. but then i know there must feel pretty good to downshift and feel the g push you into your seat!!

for all of you out there in "g" land let me know what you think.

Thanks guys

petes

Get manual, you just don't get this car in automatic - especially the coupe. Once you learn how to drive the car you get used to traffic.

6MT's are way more fun to drive if you own a coupe!

You will highly regret getting an automatic a few months down the road.

Differences?

After 50k, your auto will still shift correctly. Flame on!

If you want the auto, get the auto, turn it into a monster like I did . The "autos are for sissies" argument is complete bs (more like ignorance) these days, kind of like the "real sports cars are RWD" argument - the truth is, when done right, an AWD auto with paddle shifters is king. Cases in point, the 911 turbo and GTR. On the 911 turbo (from Dow Jones Market Watch):

"The six-speed manual in our test car was one of the best we have ever used. Disappointing to enthusiasts is the reality that the automatic with paddle shifters is actually quicker to sixty than the manual. Once again, technology triumphs over right arm and left leg."

You get the true sports car experience with a manual and every should try one if they've never had a manual in a performance car. I've had several and prefer an AT for a daily driver. MT faster? I guess that depends on who's doing the shifting. The great thing about an auto is that you just press the accelerator and go, often times past the guy with the manual trying to figure out what gear he's supposed to be in.

well i got auto for 1 reason and that was because i wanted a nice luxury car that was pretty quick. and that i could just cruise in and not want to kill people in traffic

i've owned all MT before, but were civics...

so i figured if i wanted to have fun with a stick car, and bee wayyyyy faster than a G for way cheaper, i would just buy a crx, or another hatch.

I got automatic because I couldn't drive stick when I first got my car. I learned how to drive stick after and honestly these days I'd rather take the 5AT if it's a daily driver.
