Question NEW owner: squeaky brakes, rattling rearview, and perf desires

Howdy all - This looks like the be all G35 forum. So I just got into an '04 Coupe AT. I drove it pretty strong before buying yet since buying I have discovered that the rearview mirror rattles and the brakes squeak when braking lightly only. I found many suggestions (here) on how to solve the mirror rattle. I am not sure however what to do about the brakes.

I am pretty handy and have done minor work on cars, including prem sound installs, tuneups, injectors, pumps, but never touched my brakes (not sure why). The car is under warranty both mfg and a 90 day dealer seller. I also have a good repoire w/them. What I am wondering is what should I be aware of with these brakes when having it looked at so I am not ripped off by unneeded cost or false fixes.

I would love to mod this car when it is out of warranty. Are there any basics to start with like passive air intake kits that are recommended. I've already seen highly recommended the 5/16" spacer.

Thanks for your feedback!

you can mod your car as long as its not Forced Induction and still have your warranty... Stillen/z-tube or Pop charger/z-tube are 2 good intakes (intakes and Exhaust for this car are MOSTLY for sound... the MD 5/16 Spacer you will see good gains from

Welcome to the boards........

The 03-04 Automatic model years had a 3yr - 36,000 mile brake warranty for repair/replacement when needed.....

Since the brake system on these models needed frequent attention due to the soft pads/rotors....they instituted the warranty as an after thought for the owners.

If you have a 90 warranty, make sure your brakes do no need replacement.

Have them either resurfaced or better yet replace front rotors & pads/rear rotors/pads.

The brakes on these cars wear quickly, especially if you tend to drive hard.

I was very conservative in my driving, and I needed new brakes at both 19,000 and then again at 37,000.............

If you do a search you will find several threads regarding the mirror rattle, along with a multitude of posts about every rattle known to us.

There are a ton of threads about intake spacers/ CAI's, Z tubes and aftermarket intake/air filtration.

Good luck and enjoy your new ride.

Rattles, tire wear and weak paint seem to be the major issues with the Coupes.
