Removing tire from wheel

Anyone ever tried removing a tire from a wheel at home? I have an old wheel in the garage and was curious if I could try to remove the tire off the wheel myself. Just a DIY I was curious in doing.

I doubt very much if you can remove the tire yourself without doing some damage to the lip of the rim.....

First remove the valve stem to release all the air pressure. Then you need to break the tires bead off the rim.
Then you need to use some type of pry bar,(they have these flat pry bars most tire places used to use) to work the tire over the lip of the rim, and then work the bar(s) around the rim's lip until the tire is over the lip.

Then you repeat the same steps with the rear of the tire to remove the tire completely.

If you had a stand to mount the rim, it would be alot easier...

I would just take it to a tire shop and have them do it for you.
