Rim Damage: Clearcoat...

Have any other stock 19" rim owners experienced this? I have had this car less than 2 weeks, and now the clearcoat is coming off of 3 out of the 4 rims.

Note: This car is a 2006 with 13,400 miles. It was a 1 owner car who leased it through the dealership I purchased the car from. Can rims be refinished?

Thanks!

Yes you can get the rim recleared, Most dealerships hire outside vendors that will come in and fix/repair damaged rims.
If you can find one to go directly through, rather than the dealer, you probably will save some money

I curb rashed my front rim twice, and both times I had them repair it for under $100

If you feel confident, you could wet sand the area smooth, and feather the clear, then apply a couple coats of clear coat and let it dry throughly. Then, if needed, you could wet sand the area with 1500 grit wet/dry sand paper, then compound and polish.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to the dealership on Friday because their "rim guy" will be on site. Hopefully I can all 4 rims stripped, then refinished by him because the user car manager said "when he's done you will never know he's even touched them". More to come on Friday.
