car overheating

turned in my 2003 g35 coupe today to my local dealer. problem was the car
would overheat when sitting in traffic for a long time and when I turn
my a/c on. just to let you know the average temperature is around
86F.

well the dealer says that the a/c fan assembly needs to be replaced for
a good $730(parts and labor). would it be anything else? would they have
checked the thermostat and maybe if the radiator needed to be flushed?

my a/c is pretty bad. It blows warm air after a while, but I'm not sure
if the entire assembly needs to be replaced.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

gxxxvguam,
i live in Guam also and am having the exact same issue with you right now. I brought it to the dealer and they said it would cost $780 to fix it. I asked what needs to be replaced and they said the cooling fan system, which I already knew because one of the cooling fans isn't running but they want to replace everything at once - the fan shroud, the two fans, and the two motor assemblies. I asked why they just can't replace the motor assembly on the fan that is not working and they said that they don't sell the parts individually like that, and have to replace the whole thing.

Did you go ahead and get the whole cooling fan system replaced? What's your contact info, I got more things to share about this with you, also maybe we can compare work orders to see how they price each of us for stuff like brake oil changes, pad replacements, etc... I keep all my invoices so have all the costs for work done on my vehicle. I have a 2004 Infiniti G35.

Depending on where you drive there could be debris stuck in between the radiator and condensor. Ive seen it on quite alot of G's. Customer says car over heats when underload or in traffic but when on freeway car is fine. Id say check in between the 2 before paying $700

thats not entirely true, you can get just the motors for a Z33 which uses the same exact motors as a G35 if remember right. also one thing to remember about the cooling fan setup. the motors can overheat and cause the fanshroud to melt around the fans. so the dealer may sell the fan shroud as an added precaution.
