Noob Question
Why doesn't anyone do a single big turbo setup on the G35 or 350Z? I have seen lot's of twin turbo setups. It seems that all other high HP cars usually swap out twin turbo's for larger single turbo's ie: skyline, rx7. I've been wondering this for some time now.
There are many reasons for the twins over a single. One of them being a more usable power band with the twins. Remember these cars are not really drag cars...they are cars that handle well which makes them great on a race track. A large single would not be very beneficial in that specific venue. Just my thoughts.

Not an expert by any means, but thought the benefit of smaller twin snails would spool up quicker than one large one. Less turbo lag
not a FI guy, just my basic logic.

Thats because he doesnt know, lol.
You have less lag on twin turbos than on a single. The twins are sequential so one spools up after the other leaving you with smooth, useable power.
Plus a lot of guys use these cars as their daily drivers. A single turbo would be really sick, but probably better for a track set up...(but thats just an opinion). Think about it. You experience lag as you accelerate initially and in-between shifts. So the single turbo would be better on the track as the shifts are way quicker.
It also has to do with the design of the engine such as v6, inline 6, exhaust, manifold, etc.
I can even see how a sequential TT set up would be better with a variable valve timing engine, as opposed to a single turbo just boosting up.
