Idiot yes-- and there are many in our ranks (G owners) also who might not do this but will do other equally idiotic things (e.g., street race, drink and drive, hit and run, change the oil at >30K miles, install dangerous or ridiculous mods, buy a salvaged car and then ask for advice about whether it was a good decision, etc., etc., etc.). So it would seem that there's enough "stupidity" to go around.

It's an interesting ad tho.... you appear to downgrade the car's appeal by negatively highlighting the qualities many drivers would want (rally car feel, power)- think of it as a trial balloon as is done in politics.

I can't imagine not driving the Type S model before buying it. That's pretty fishy. However, I'd never driven the exact G35 I bought until I drove it off the lot. I drove a couple others with the same options in a different color. Once we'd come to pricing terms, I slept on it, walked the lot with my sales guy, and picked a blue slate one that still had all the plastic on it.

It had 9 miles on it, and I'd never even sat in it until I owned it.

this guy must be rich if he doesnt care to test drive his cars before he buys them, and if hes willing to sell a brand new car 8 grand less than its worth...

i would trade him my G for it, TL TypeS is sick!

Why not just RETURN it....If he bought the car and within the first day he didnt like it....just take it back and cancel the deal....all states have a LAW that allows you to return a car if your not satisfide with it. I know Arizona allows up to 30days to return a NEW CAR.

Braintree you make an excellent point. There is enough stupidity to go around a few times and still have leftovers for 2 days. Doesn't matter what you drive. I totally agree it does sound fishy. We have the 30 day grace. And I believe it is Gov regulated that each state have some kind of protection for new vehicle purchases. Even if it's only 3 days. Not to mention the dealer???? It would be a complete win for them if he just returned it to them, took is $2k loss there and bought another from them. (ESPECIALLY if he financed thru them and they have early pay off penalty, which most dealerships do.) They would reap benefits.
Didn't he at least READ UP on the difference between the TL and the Type S version? Common sense SHOULD say hummm, different letter after the TL part. Must have been a type-o??
Too weird, and I feel so bad that he ended up with a beautiful "race car" with a sport suspension. How very aweful that must be!! I hope he doesn't end up winning the lotto next week or something equally as terrible.

maybe thats the case in AZ, but here in Cali, there is NO COOLING OFF PERIOD with a new car. In cases of used cars, you may pay a fee to have the option of returning the car within 5 days and will also likely pay a restocking fee, and thats only if you opt for that in the purchase of a used car.

I also believe Cali was also the 1st state to do away with early pay off penalty on auto loans. but I agree with that the Dealer would only win in this case, if they took the vehicle back.

In the state of Maryland, you have 3-working days to void any contract. The dealer however has the right to charge you for the time you had the vehicle and the number of miles you put on it.
On another note, the guy may not be as stupid as you think. It is a 2008 and he purchased after the 2009's are being sold, which means he may have bought the car for a couple of thousand less than what he is selling it for. My local Infiniti dealer was offering $8,000 off the price of any 2008 G35 they had in stock about a month ago.
