Whats the difference between this ebay intake http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...Q5fAccessories

or the z tube and drop in intake.... The price is about 150 dollars difference and they both look the same and probably do the same thing... so what wrong with the 30 dollar intake from ebay?

to me i think its the same **** and ALOTTTTTTT cheaper! But i could be wrong.. what do u think

Heat soak and air flow.

That ebay intake has no heat shielding whatsoever and, in fact, looks to me like it would be a pretty good conductor of heat, further degrading the performance. It doesn't appear to have a velocity stack. The system lacks air pressure integrity entirely and without knowing the specific brand of cone filter it is suspect, imo, as well.

Other than that, it looks pretty good.

Z-tube/Drop In filter- you gain about 1 hp.

ebay intake- you lose anywhere from 20-40 hp, due to heat, and lack of proper air pressure.

Still wanna save money? Maybe you can throw on some turbonaters while your at it.

But for the majority of the time, you'll lose enough to where you'll be able to feel the difference. And if you have hot summers where you are, you'll definitely feel that affect your car too.

I once tried to clamp down a cone filter straight to the throttle body and just drive around like that but the filter was too big and wouldn't fit.

this is why cold air would b the best? everyone on here says no... the filter sits right in your bumper n sucks in all the cold air as you drive instead of the hot air by the engine..
