Does anyone know if the 2005 navi can be upgraded to 2006 style with the newer, nicer interface with the better graphics and maps? If so how is this done and can anyone provide pictures of before and after update? Lastly if this cannot be done with software alone, can a 2006 navi unit be installed in a 2005's place? Thanks.

its definetly more than just software, i have the 6.7 disc and mine still looks the same just has newer addresses

 

My 06 runs the 7.xx software.
No clue if the 06 unit swapped into a 05 is plug n play.

 

You can't, it's a different software version - 6 vs. 7.

 

pretty much the only thing you can do is update your maps. The roads, landmarks, and colors are updated, but the interface remains the same. Pm Vstypicals, he may have available software updates.

 

it should be possible...theoretically anyway...although you would almost certainly have to remove it to do so. Maybe search for "firmware reflash" ...
