HKS Copy first impression

I just bought an HKS copy. I know allot of people don't like buying "fake" stuff but I did. Heres my impression on this exhaust.

INSTALLATON
It took me about 2 hours to uninstall oem stock and replace with after market exhaust. It would have been much faster if I had access to a lift. Remember if your thinking about doing this mod to tighten and adjust and tighten and adjust some more, or else it will be off. I made the mistake of tightening all bolt and then I realized it was higher on one side and I had to loosen all bolts to re adjust.

Tools needed
14MM socket / wrench
17mm socket / wrench
WD40 Lube (helps pop exhaust on and off rubber hangers)
Flat screwdriver (used for leverage)

IMPRESSION
(Personal Opinion) This exhaust is deep and throaty, no rasping on high RPM's. It's also loud. I was expecting a slight increase from stock but this was a big jump. I had a big smile when I rolled down my street. If cops don't like it I might reconsider...

Impul sides are next

we don't need first impressions for an exhaust that is horribly common, and that tons have had for way over 2 years now...

Nice write-up

I heard they rust like a **** though, so I would look into what you can do to stop it from rusting, I think they have some spray on stuff.

I didn't know they were that common, I just got my G this year, so I gues this is for the people that might be interested on this ebay exhaust and just don't know what to expect...

1. Yes this is ebay. I did local pickup for a better price.
2. There's lots of soundclips on utube but you need to hear this in person, it's hard to guage on utube since different people used different cammeras, angle, etc.. Ask someone on G35driver if they are local and see if you can check it out in person
3. PICS comming I'm still at work with no time to post.

(personal opinion) If you like deep and loud this is for you. If you want something slightly louder than stock this is not for you.

What about high temp clear will that work? anyone tried high temp clear?... never mind, i think i need to sand it down for paint to stick well... i guess when it rusts i'll just polish it or buy an TI tip or sell and try another exhaust.

I would look into it a little bit harder, because I don't think you can polish rust. I've heard of these rusting out in 2 months. The main reason people don't buy them is rust.

Personally I wouldn't go with a knock off exhaust. Sure, say even if it SOUNDS better, there is lots of R&D that has gone into authentic exhaust systems. That's why some will give you better gains than others. For a few hundred bucks I'd rather save up for something good. Unless you're getting it for a sick deal like $100 or so, otherwise it's not worth it.

If you wanted a louder, throaty sound, you do a muffler delete. Problem solved. I couldn't stand the stock muffler and the sound of the exhaust since I have to put my custom exhaust on hold, so I did the muffler delete. I'm very happy with the results as well and it takes 15 minutes or less to do.
