I cry everytime my wife drives our G, waiting for something like that to happen. I would get the estimates now from reputable places before contacting your insurer. If its too much, then contact the insurer. Keep in mind that if you do contact them that there is a very good chance they will increase your rates and eventually recoup the cost of repair.
