Today I was able to get home early and since it was nice out I figured I would start working on making the subwoofer enclosure for my system. This is the ugly phase of the job since none of the cosmetic panels are made and it just looks like an ugly square box. I was able to complete the box in a couple of hours. I built it according to Alpine's specs for a sealed enclosure. I haven't heard this sub in this type of box so I hope it sounds good when all is said and done.

You notice that the back of the box has a 2' lip at the bottom. I will be mounting my amps and capacitor to the back of the box and that lip is the distance I need so that only the tops of the amp will be visible through the trim panel that will cover the entire back.

Also, you can see the space in between the bottom of the box and the floor of the car. Once I install my BBK the stock spare won't fit anymore. Since it won't fit I decided not to carry it in the car. I'm going to partition the space and use it for my sales literature that I usually carry around in boxes in my trunk. I'll make nice little compartments for everything and then make a false floor to cover everything. Once it's don't the only thing you should see in the trunk are the amps. I also have to make a compartment for teh air compressor, tire plug kit and fix a flat that I'll be carrying now that I no longer will have a spare.

Here are a few pics of the progress:

I plan on doing the back deck along with the rear seat pan, rear side panels and the front door panels, but I ran out and had to order more.

Yeah I'm going. Even though the weather forecast changed from 30% to 50% chance of rain. I'm bringing my umbrella for sure. LOL

The rest of my sounds deadening came in this week, so hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to finish that up. Then I can start wiring the system and continue to work on the sub box.

I also picked these bad boys up today. I've only had my current wheels for less then 2 months, but I couldn't pass up the smoking deal on these. Hopefully the tires will be here by the end of next week so I can get these mounted for the weekend.

$1800. The lowest price I could get from any of our vendors was $2700 plus shipping, so even with the few minor imperfections it's a great deal. Plus as you know Volks are usually about a 2-3 month wait and I don't have the patience for that.

It's a 12" Dual voicecoil 4ohm. I'm going to be running a clean 600w to it, so hopefully it will hit pretty good.
