Yeah, that's what my neighbor did when he lost his key. He just tightened the other lugnuts to take as much pressure off the lock as possible, then got a socket close to the size of the lock and hammered it onto the lock. The locks came right off easy...too easy!

I asked him where did he learn this and he said it's common practice for thieves and tire shops (when people lose the key). Made me feel like buying wheel locks was a waste of money.

Oh yeah...you're not an idiot. If you purposely drove off with the key on the lock, then you would be an idiot. Accidents happen...learn from it.

i did the same thing with my Z, i had a z with factory locks dunno why for them ugly stock wheels, but i had to patch one of my rims and i forgot the key when i was done, very dumb move, u might have to go get them taken off so gay, cost me like 80 bucks for nissan to just take off the lugs

Yes, your locks should have included a "key" number just in case you lose your key and need a replacement.

Any tire shop would be able to remove your locks. A local shop removed mine for free.
