Exhaust Question (PICTURES INSIDE !!)

I posted earlier about a sound I was hearing from the G, which I suspected was an exhaust leak. (Thread can be viewed here).
So I ordered two 60 mm gaskets (one for the midpipe to muffler connection and the other for the midpipe to Y-pipe connection) from DirectTuning. Turns out they are different sizes so I had to go to Kragen and pick up a generic midpipe to y-pipe flange gasket.
So I took off the existing gaskets, one of which was in decent shape (midpipe to y-pipe), and the other one was falling apart. It was coroded, rusted, and flaking to the point where it was essentially useless.
This is the 60 mm (midpipe to muffler) gasket that was deteriorated.

This is the gasket that was in OK shape (midpipe to y-pipe) and was larger than 60 mm. I replaced it anyway.

This is one of the two 60 mm gaskets I got from Direct tuning (only used 1 cuz the other was too small).

This is the packaging from the one I got from Kragen (I installed it before I took pics).

I replaced both of them, tightened up the bolts and started up the car. It sounded ok in the driveway, but when I initially took it out and cruised at 5 mph, I heard the raspy sound like crazy, then I took it for a 5 minute spin to heat up the exhaust. I didn't hear the sound anymore but this is how it was before too.
So my question is: how long do these gaskets take to heat up and expand to create that seal between the flanges that I'm looking for? Also, what might be the cause of failing gaskets? Any other advice, haha?
Thanks in advance!

i just replaced mine like a week ago. cause i noticed that my g didnt have that "g" sound. i was missing a gasket at the midpipe. replaced the two after the cats. and i havent replaced the one at the muffler. the two by the cats are the same the midpipe one is different and the one at the muffler is like a ring. no problems after i replaced them, just use oem. ther not that expensive. like $14 each or something the ring one is more expensive though.
Having been thru 5 different exhaust systems there's no better gaskets than the OEM (factory) gaskets. Stores like Kragen sell junk compared to what came on your G....real live actual junk! Next time you need gaskets stop by your Nissan dealership and buy quality parts that will last....
There's no need to torq down the exhaust bolts/nuts, align the gasket and bring the bolts/nuts up even then swing away! This is where I enjoy using an impact gun, can't hurt a thing!

^^ But do you think that nasty raspy sound is the culprit? I don't want to down there again and replace that gaskets only to find out the noise is coming from some place else. It is a loud, raspy sound that I hear when the car is moving, slow and fast.

^^ Will I see fumes or just hear the leak?
I went to the stealership a and picked up a replacement gasket for the generic POS I got at Kragen. I'm gonna put it on this weekend and hopefully this will take care of things. The scratching, raspy sound has only gotten worse since my last post. If this doesn't work, I won't even be confident that the problem is related to my exhaust, although it sure sounds that way now.
Any advice?

This is not the best view of it but it's what it looks like.

I just don't know how well this will work with one side being the OEM exhaust and the other side being the AM exhaust.
Will update as soon as I throw it on and test drive the G.
