Electric Door Lock not Working??? HELP!!

I have a 2004 G35 Coupe. The lock on the driver's side door stopped working today. If I'm inside the car and use the lock/unlock switch only the passenger's side lock locks and unlocks. When I step out of the car and lock it with the remote the car does honk and the passenger side door locks, but the driver's side doesn't lock. The only way to lock the car now is by manually using the key. What could be the issue here? I live 2 hours from the nearest Infiniti dealer so am hoping maybe a Nissan dealer can fix this...? Any thoughts on what could be wrong and what the cost may be?

Thanks guys!

Prolly the door lock actuator going/gone out. They cost anywhere from 160-300 depending on where you get it, and are apparently a PIA to replace. I am just dealin with mine being out at the moment. I think Infiniti charges something like 600-800 to fix it. Suks don't it....

Door won't lock....lock actuator.

It is the door lock actuator, had mine replaced a few weeks back by my extended warranty....that's the second time I've been back to my dealership. Had to make the mechanic to park my car in the drive and not to have it washed....it's always clean!

Thanks for the replies guys, it sucks that it's going to be that costly to repair....I guess I'll put it off for a bit by having to use the key to lock it

I had actually been setting some money aside to put in an aftermarket market stereo, but now that'll have to wait so I can fix this up.

Is this something that you guys would only recommend an Infiniti dealer do, or is it something a trusted body shop, or even a Nissan dealership can fix at a fraction of the cost?

Umm, I have a friend who works at Ken Towery and said that they make an off brand of the actuator that works and he thinks it is something that we could do. Would make the total cost for both actuators and install like $300...just a thought, see what u can get ahold of...

I have the same problem. I just live with manually locking/unlocking with the key.

Hey, call around to Nissan and even auto radio shops....they know how to do the job. Get the best price, $300= seems kinda steep for a 40 minute job....
