Infiniti's F'd Up Options

I just built a G37 Sedan on Infiniti's website, and was reminded of the horrible method they use for their options, and why so many reviews comment negatively on it. There are so many restrictions and requirements, and plain old errors, it ends up being very deceptive at face value.

I can get the Premium Package by itself ($2500). Fine, no problem. They also list a Rear Spoiler under Packages ($550), but if you choose this, you also have to get the Nav ($2150) and Active Steering ($1300). Huh? Oh, OK, I can get a Rear Spoiler in the Accessories section ($520). I can then add Nav. Nah, forget Nav, I just want the Active Steering. Nope, adding that means I not only have to get Nav, but I also have to switch my Rear Spoiler from the $520 one to the $550 one. Why? The cheaper Spoiler can be had for either Nav or non-Nav setups, so what does Active Steering have to do with the extra $30?

OK, fine, just give me Nav and the cheaper Rear Spoiler. Now, that Front Chin Spoiler ($490) would be nice, but it's only available with the Sport Package. Wait! I'm pricing a G37 Sport. OK, pick that and ... nope, can't get the Front Chin Spoiler with the Rear Spoiler even though I've got the Sport Package. In order to get the Front Chin Spoiler and Rear Spoiler I have to buy the more expensive Rear Spoiler ($550), but in order to do that, I have to buy Nav and Active Steering. The combined price of the 2 Spoilers is $1000, but in order to actually have both Spoilers on my car, I have to spend another $2500 in other options, and this is above the price of Premium (also required for both Spoilers).
Rear Spoiler: $520
Front Chin Spoiler: $490
Front and Rear Spoilers: $3500 + Premuim ($2500)

OK, to be honest, I'm being a bit deceptive. You can get the Aero Kit ($895) which has both Spoilers and not get any other Package, but it is far from clear what your real options are when you go to add them. When choosing both Spoilers, it doesn't tell me I need to get the Aero Kit, it either doesn't allow it, or tells me I need Premium, Nav, and Active Steering.

And if you thought that was bad, this one takes the cake. They now offer a Midnight Black Grill ($320). Cool! Many of us have painted ours, and Infiniti recognizes the appeal. But if I get the Midnight Black Grill I CAN NO LONGER GET A TRUNK CARGO NET! WTF is that? I'd say programming error, but given what they do for the Spoilers, I'm not so sure any more. BMW's options are numerous and expensive, but at least they're not as convoluted as what Nissan/Infiniti has out there. What a PITA!!!

That just blew my mind.

One more reason I don't buy new cars.

so were you really looking to buy or just playing around?

building a virtual car online is for window shoppers. If you really are looking to buy you go to the dealer, tell them what you want and let them figure it out.

Woke up late, had a monster breakfast, GF was showering, and was checking out G37's (her dad is thinking about one). I saw the new Grille option, and when I picked it a ! symbol appeared next to the cargo net. That's what started this whole thing.

So, yes, you're right.

Can't agree any more.. If I was looking to buy new I would go right down to the dealership and let them know what I want in the car. I haven't tried to build a G online but if its like that it doesn't make much sense.

Anything that has to do with dealer will costs you an arm and a leg. That's why there are aftermarket parts
