oil consumption

hi
i drive a 2004 automatic g35 coupe
i found out that i have oil consumption issue and currently out of warranty.
Could i use the car with no major issues? just put it in oil when its low?
or
would it get worse and cause major problems in the long run?
thank you

Well your only option is to drive it until it falls apart. But wow it's very rare that oil consumption is on a 2004 automatic. You should be able to get by if you keep the oil at peak.

Cool Oil Consumption

It is my understanding that the consumption is from the rings on the pistons going bad thus causing blow by. I drive an 03 and I didn't start having any issues until I started adding the bolt on mods, exhaust, pulleys, pop charge, plenum spacer, etc... Can this be fixed with new piston rings and or having the engine rebuilt? If rebuilding is the way to go I am thinking of using the NISMO low compression pistons, rings and connecting rods and adding the NISMO cams too for max HP...

Yeah i was wondering the same thing about an engine rebuild. If the rings are the ones causing the oil problem can i just rebuild the motor with better rings?

Would your insurance company be willing to cover the cost of a new motor? Never know, call them and see.

I think I might be having the same issue having the dealer do the OC on my 03 6mt. What does 1qrt loss on the dip stick look like?

+1 on that. for example a litre every 3000 miles isn't a problem in my opinion as long as the consumption doesn't increase with time and your compression is good.
