Going to dealer for tune-up
Going to dealer for tune-up
My car currently has 140,000KMs. I just got a quote from the dealer for $750CDN to do the the following things:
Flush and replace engine coolant
Flush and replace automatic transmission oil
Flush and replace rear differential oil
Change engine belts
Change engine oil
Change spark plugs
Change in-cabin filter
Do you think that's a fair price or should I look elsewhere?

I think everything on that list (besides the engine belt change) you can do yourself with the help of a DIY thats probably already posted on here with your normal everyday automotive tools. Have them print out a list of the cost and you'll see that at LEAST HALF of that is only labor
Do it yourself if you have the tools, if you don't taking your G to Nissan rather than Infiniti will save you a bundle. They use the same fluids, (Z-cars) and their mechanics are better trained from what I've experienced. My stealership wanted $300 just for the trans service. Knowing that was way out of whack I went to Nissan and had all my fluids drained/replaced for just over $200. The belt and cabin filter might cost another $150 which is still way better than what you were quoted....! Call and ask Nissan, you've got everything to gain.

Flush and replace engine coolant - $20 worth of coolant
Flush and replace automatic transmission oil - $70 worth of fluid
Flush and replace rear differential oil - $30
Change engine belts - $30
Change engine oil - $30
Change spark plugs - $50
Change in-cabin filter - $25
*Just a guess-timate
~$255 if you do it yourself....you can probably knock it out in 3 hours with a help of a friend
thats alot of money for labor
if you cant find someone or just dont want to do it yourself, find a good local shop, or even some weekend mechanics.

Some people cannot do these things myself. I know several friends who i'd never let go under the hood of their car alone. Most people here are enthusiasts and love to work on their cars, but a lot of the general population doesn't have the know-how to change their own oil...let alone do some of the more involved maintainence like a coolant system flush or a trans drain and fill.
Then there are the people that just couldn't be bothered with getting dirty and crawling under their car and doing this sort of work. I'm starting to find myself falling into this category. I HATE working on cars now, and would rather pay someone to get dirty for me.
