Bogging around all the time can actually be bad for the engine, some higher revs are good for cleaning out carbon deposits, getting oil circulated and cleaning the injectors.

Umm, yes, no damage. It sounds like you have some strange notions of how cars work.

The car has a rev-limiter which will prevent the engine from over-revving, and since yours is an automatic transmission, you can't shift incorrectly and over-rev, so feel free to stomp on it. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever got on the highway without my gas pedal touching the carpet.

Think of it like this.....your car is a performance car, much like a performance athlete. Start the car and let the oil reach all moving parts (usually around 15 seconds or so). At this point, it's ok to drive normally until the temp reaches Normal Operating Temperature (much like an athlete stretches to warm up their muscles). Once at N.O.T., you're good to go. Actually, if you don't drive the car spiritedly every now and then, you're slowly killing the car by allowing crap to build up inside the engine......much like an athlete that is not allowed to play. Let it "stretch its legs" every so often. Just make sure it gets the good stuff it needs to perform.......oil, gas, clean air, etc.

if its a lease and you're not keeping it, then why would it matter in the long run? if it were yours to keep and you kept driving it like you are, with normal services, im sure the car would run half a million miles! but you do need to give it the ole' "german tune-up" by stretching it's legs out so you don't have much carbon buildup

cars are horrible investment pieces so i tend to drive them as i feel whether they be nice and easy or ripping corners and slamming the throttle

my point is that you should enjoy the car while you have it and stop worrying about if you start your car more than 4 times a day (very rediculous) or turning on your hids...

im surprised you are still breathing, knowing someone is smoking somewhere and you might die from pollution in the air.

maybe you should try skydiving...

So your saying I can drive the car however I want, and when I return it in 2.5 years it will still be fine? There is no way I can damage it in that time?

I had a tranny go out on me in a previous car but it wasnt an Infiniti or Nissan. I am a girl and drive with less regard of what could happen..... Yes something can happen. You could get hit by a bus or a bird can fly into your grill... are you not going to drive because of what could happen??

Dont be stupid and redline it all the time or slam on the brakes but like EVERYONE else has said. Enjoy your damn car. You probably do look kind of stupid going slow in a fast car. LOL. Its a lease, they are just saying that most people dont take care of a lease the way they would with a car that they are keeping.

In short.... grow some ***** and drive the F out of your car. Keep up on the maintenance and have fun with it.

SO basically once the car is at Normal operating temp, I can floor it all I want?

I'm guessing once it hits the 4th bar on the temp guage, its ready to be driven hard..right?

Also when I'm driving in the city (90% of the time) how do you guys take off from lights? I usually try to keep it at 2500 rpm at each shift (automatic) but i always feel like everyone is on my a**. Should I just hit it?

So I can pretty much hit it hard from every take off? I'm sick of driving slow.

I'm just going to drive it hard all the time, hopefully the transmission or engine doesnt break before the car is due back.

you are more likely to burn oil, hit a tree, or skid out on an ice patch than blow your engine or transmission from spirited driving. As long as your car is warmed up in ~2 minutes you should be fine redlining it.. I get it in the 6k rpm band at least once about every time I get in the car.. just make sure you do your servicing at the correct mileage that is recommended.
