Fit it yourself... any idiot who can run a drill and use a ratchet and socket set can test fit and install a bumper and sides. Then just have someone spray it if you dont paint.
Depending on your car color and paint fade, have a body shop or auto paint jobber use a paint scanner to scan an adjacent panel so the paint matches on the newly painted parts, simply using the OEM paintcode wont match 100% of the time.
Best bet is to call local shops and get quotes... never understood asking online for prices when pretty much every body shop across the country is different.

I've seen kits where the kit is off by quite a bit, thus requiring some shaving and in some cases adding some FG/bondo.
As for here in so cal, it depends on the color of your car. For IP, you're looking at an additional $50 per piece cos of the pearl. I paid 400 for my front bumper and sides I believe are 400 as well through the same shop (quote from friend cos I don't have sides). This is without fitting.

That's such a newbie response, sorry....but have you worked with aftermarket kits? Do you realize that ALL of them require some sort of fitting and some are better than others?

Id rather get my hands dirty and work on my own car by fitting it myself and saving $$$ and learning along the way. Guess thats not an option for some.... Bodyshop rates are ridiculous!

Some people speak out of convenience - and not really from experience or reality...

newbie response....? Ive fit and sprayed many bodykits, fiberglass and urethane. Also did a custom metal widebody kit on one of my cars, so Im by no means a newbie when it comes to bodywork. If he's buying a POS kit, its gonna fit like sh*t and need major work. Most urethane kits Ive put on didnt need any adjustments, maybe a few holes drilled at the mounting points and thats it. Yes most fiberglass kits warp once removed from the mold so be prepared for a little more work if youre going FG.

Never called you personally a newbie, I stated what you said is a newbie response...basically to think that anyone can fit on a body kit. Kits these days are not like what they used to be before. Before you could buy a kit and fit it yourself, nowadays, that's not the case.
Most kits for the G are also FG, the majority of them are, only a few are poly. Most people buy FG anyway because it's cheaper. Also if it breaks, I'd rather have FG, much easier to repair.
I agree that body shops do charge too much, but some of the things require experience and skill, something more than the average joe can handle and that's why cost is higher. Most of the people here are incapable of doing body work or would rather put it in the hands of a professional.
There are things I'm willing to attempt to do with my car and things that I'm unwilling to. With my old bumper I fixed the cracks myself. with my new bumper, i was not going to attempt what I had done, meshing 2 bumpers together and fitting properly, clearly out of my league, just as fitting a bumper that doesn't have good fitment would be out of someone's league to fix.
Not to mention, if it doesn't fit right but you fit it on and realize it needs work, you're still going to have to take it off and pay to get it to fit right. If it fits like a glove, then there is no fitting fee, at least from an honest shop.
It really doesnt matter if you or they fit it. You can try it and if it fits and your happy with the fitment then you good to go. But you still got to take it off for them to paint it properly. With that you stil have to either pay them to install it or risk installing it and scratching it in the process. If they put it on its on them if they scratch or chip it. I personally rather it be on them but hey i do paint and bodywork so no biggie. Most of kits today will need some work. Ive even had polys that suck on fitment
the avg enthusiast that typically wrenches basic bolt-ons is not going to be able to make it fit proper (but your post implied they would)...
I dont know about coupes - but for sedans there aren't many (hardly any really) poly body parts... almost all are FG... some fit well, other not so much...
Most of the "not so much" will require experiences body shop (or equivalent) to make it look decent...
I guess "decent" is relative though... I dont want my car looking like a backyard hack job - so decent to me is basically perfect.

Thats your problem. You always assume and so do alot of people. If you read my other post i said id prefer to leave it to the pros. Considering thats what i do part time it figured i could do it. Im guessing from your pics you have a wald lip molded into you bumper and qtrs? Anybody can try to fit it and if it doesnt work then put the factory on and take it to a shop. Its always worth a shot. Who knows the fitment could be perfect but i highly doubt it. On average the painting and just fitting of bumper and skirts could range from 400-1200 depending on how much work and color
Thats my point too... Why not learn something and try it yourself first, save some cash. Ive been doing bodywork for 10+ years and learned basically everything from my old man(who did bodywork for 30 years), online, and talking to body guys and just by trial and error. Its amazing what you can learn when you ask one simple question.
Im the most **** motherf***er youll ever meet when it comes to doing my own bodywork.
I guess I feel sorry for this "average" enthusiast who drops his car off at a shop(whether its a bodyshop or speedshop or whatever) and picks it up done without ever trying things himself
So OP, my advice to you is try it yourself, maybe itll fit like a glove, and youll learn something along the way. Otherwise foot the xtra cash and have a shop do if you dont like the fitment or its beyond what youre capable of.
