Angry My G got Bumped into

Just came home yesterday from a 2 week and a half job at Edwards Air force Base and noticed some one hit my car in my parking lot, it turns out my neighbor did it. He tried to deny it… but once we matched his bumper height with the hit it matched up perfectly, he called his insurance and they are going to cover it. The body shop they told me to take my car to estimated the damage to 720 dollars. What do you guys think?

try and pop it out yourself by heating it up slowly with a hairdryer or heat gun and buffing out the marks. collect the 720 for emotional damages.

you can pop it out with a heatgun, but the paint is cracked.. I got mine done for ~$400. everyone gets hit in the same spot (mine was driver's side though)...

(if they are replacing the bumper) then see if you can find a nice aftermarket bumper for the same price as the oem bumper... and get yourself an upgrade while you're at it... or pay the little difference. might be worth the extra $100 or you might get cash back

I really don't see that many after market rears that look as good as the OEM.

And it's going to look jack with a aftermarket rear and a OEM front. And aftermarket front and OEM rear is doable.
And yes, The G ALWAYS gets hit in the exact same spot (driver or passenger side). Our cars is CURSED in that very area.

For $720, they better be replacing the entire thing. I was quoted $400 for a "1 cm" clear coat scratch on the driver side door. Just because it's a Infiniti, they feel like it's okay to charge us double.

Looks like the rear quarter panel needs work as well. 720 seems about right. 400 for the rear and 320 for materials and labor.

Nice neighbor, since you live here in SoCal we have a company called DENT MAN they take out small dings in your painted surface. But they also specialize in fixing bumpers just like yours, but since your neighbor is such an honest azz find someone who'll charge the most and make his insurance rates sky rocket!

i had the same thing happen to me but on the left side, i was inside kinkos and a guy with a red truck hit me, i didnt even see it some nice lady came inside and is like does anybody own that g35 i got the guys tag # who hit you. i got really lucky thank God. my damages were quoted $830 but it was the same hit no taillight damage or anything. I WOULD RECCOMEND you get the oem bumper bro an aftermarket part will not look the same. I took my G to South Motors Infiniti Collision and they did a great job. As for keeping some cash theres not a lot of room to do so, unless you have a cheap job done on your G and for that you might as well drive a civic with a bumper falling off.

I'm going to have to completely agree with you on this. My wife's G got hit in a parking lot in the exact same spot but driver's side. Luckily, it was at a high end steakhouse and the other person actually left a note.

$720 is probably the estimate for replacement. The shop may determine that it can be popped out once they remove the bumper. Since the other person has insurance, pick a shop and let them deal with it. That's what insurance is for.

ok so I've fixed this many times. What you're gonna need is mentos, diet coke, and tweezers. So what you are gonna want to do is carefully place the diet coke behind the area of collision. Then take out you're mentos cuz this part gets tricky. As you open the diet coke quickly place the mentos in the bottle. The pressure from the coke should push the dent hard enough to put it back into place so make sure you aim correctly. If you have completed this correctly the bumper should pop right back into place. Once you complete this just sit back and enjoy the rest of you're diet coke.

You're welcome,
Philster
