Is the g35 a reliable car?
 

I currently own a 2005 corvette and as much as I love it I've been thinking I want to purchase a a good daily driver out right and be debt free. There isn't many cars that interest me in the lower price range other than the g35.. I've always liked them. Although they're not exactly fast, I like the idea that I'm sure they're pretty tight little handling cars and likely nice and fun to drive. My friend has a really nice 2006 sport for sale but this time around I want a "no issue car". My corvette has had numerous electrical gremlins along with needing a new water pump, new rad, etc and I'm thinking it might be time to move on and get a good daily driver. Is the g35 a typical reliable import? Any common issues with them? Any problems when driving them hard (but not beating on it)? I hear they're not great on gas but I only get about 19l/100 km in the vette in the city or about 12mpg so I'm assuming it's probably better than that. Also, how sturdy is the manual transmission?

Z06 or not? There's a big power difference stepping down to a G from your current car.

As far as reliability, there's pretty good.

Anyone want to go more in depth on the specific questions? I was just reading a sticky thread and it appears they have issues with burning oil?

Our Infinity's are reliable if you take care of them with the recommended maintenance, not the best on gas but then it's not a Honda/Toyota/KIA.

Most of the oil burning issues have been related to engines with bad piston rings and have been replaced under warranty. I would not worry about the oil consumption as it is a very small percentage of cars sold. I mean it's a popular topic on this forum, but i guess it is more exciting that a thread entitiled "My engine's not burning oil!!!". Have fun picking out your G.

My car has been very reliable. I keep up on maintainence, but I drive 50 miles per day with no issue.

infinti's are reliable compared to vette's , beamers, etc. but it is nowhere but nowhere near toyota or honda.

heres a list to relieve ur thoughts.

most reliable to least (only big car companies)

toyota, honda, nissan/infinitis, bmw's

generally speaking FTW

ull have a few minor issues with infiniti's

Um I would throw toyota out the window...they have gone down hill. Im not sure where they fit in the heirarchy anymore...so excluding Toyota/Lexus I say it goes like this from most reliable to least reliable...

Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infiniti, Mercedes, Audi/VW and BMW at the bottom.

Personally, my G35 is extremely reliable and always has been...my 335i BMW is a big POS!!!! Its pretty sad my highly modified and boosted G35 is more reliable than my stock 335i BMW.

The results are probably skewed in Buick / Jaguar favor because not that many people drive Buicks and Jaguars so less people will report the problems.

Some things to take into account. They go by "average problem"

What do they define as an "average problem?"

And lexus and toyota will be no where near the tops this year due to the accelerating and assorted issues recently
