OK, yes and I've read most of them. If you read the post the topic was asking for peoples opinions. I thought FRAM was made by Purolator?

 

^ Nissan filters are as bad a frams. (Made of cardboard end caps). Yet, how many motor failure were cause by Fram filters?

That being said, I use PureOne. They use to be $9 for a 2 pack on Amazon.

 

This chart was made up by VQ35 UOA's at my350z. But yea I agree some brands have more samples then others.

you can use whatever oil/filter combo you want and you will be fine, just be sure to change it.

My dad bought a 1992 chevy truck in 1992 and only used the oil and filter that was on sale. Usually $6.99 for a filter and oil. I dont think the guy paid more than $12 for a filter and oil....

truck still runs fine. No leaks, no engine problems, no shop time becasue of engine/oil problems.
the guy still has the truck and has no problems..

 

Screw synthetic. I personally run high mileage Valvoline oil+FRAM Cardboard filter because it's junk..

 

They're going to be running a special for FL and LA residents soon... free oil... just visit your nearest beach (make sure you buy a good filter)

I seriously doubt if it really matters what kind of synthetic oil you use as long as it's changed frequently. I used Mobil 1 for 125K mile with my last Z so that's what I began with SLICK at 1K miles. Have read good reviews about Red Line I tried that for a while but at $11 a quart + $10 for filter I questioned it's worth. Having read the chart on page 1 I ordered a case of AMSOIL 10W/30 ATM which looks really good on paper and I'll continue using K&N filters. We'll see how she like the AMSOIL....

Yeah... but that's probably a little overkill... just use cheesecloth, pantyhose or an old sock... you're mainly trying to strain out the big stuff like gravel and ducks.

I run castrol conventional fluid and purolator filter. I drive way too many miles and change my oil too frequently that synthetic would get pricey. Personally, nothing wrong with quality dino oil if frequently changed.
