After reading the oil consumption sticky

Well I paged through the check your oil thread which was like over 50 pages. Now I'm starting to reconsider buying a g35. I thought Nissan was known to build reliable motors, but apparently g35s eat up a lot of oil and more than a few g35 owners in that thread had to get new motors which scare the **** out of me.

I'm looking to get a daily driver, is a g35 a good candidate for that? From the looks of it, g35s use up ALOT of oil. I know people will just tell me to check my oil but I don't like the fact that it uses up so much oil. On the other hand a few people said that they never experienced this problem before?

^ Most of the problems are on the 05+ G35 with manual transmission (revup motor).

Get a automatic and you'll 'probably' be safe oil consumption wise.

I'm planning to get a Lexus IS350 or ISF. The interior is just sick.

My '03 6MT coupe has 110K+ on it, and it burns about half a quart in 3,000 miles. I'm not complaining one bit about that. I drive mine 120 miles daily.

G35 Coupe
i would stick with 03/04 coupes, best in motor reliability i think but if you want the looks and interior go with 05+

What you should remember as well is that our membership represents a very small percentage of total G ownership. A majority of us have never had some of the issues that you see pop up on here. Every used car is going to have it's issues and create unhappy users.

The G is one of the best used car values out there bringing a lot of bang for the buck these days. Do your homework on any potential cars you might consider purchasing and have any car you give serious consideration to checked by a reputable mechanic before you purchase. One of the beautiful aspects of the G is that is really easy to work on and to DIY for a LOT of repairs and maintenance.

Bottom line, don't be put off by what you read here, this is a great car.
