06 Headlight Issues....

To make a long story short my brother hit a truck in my car so I had to get the bumper and one headlight replaced. Went to a reputable collision shop where I got my BMW done not too long ago. The light from the headlight they replaced is a lot less "white" then my old one. Brought it back and they said they used all OEM parts to replace the entire set up. Bulbs and all. Clearly, there is a difference though.

Last night I went to infiniti and had them turn on the lights to an 07 coupe and they resembled my the light on my car that didn't get replaced. Even the sales guys said something was off.

Does anyone know where I can get the OEM part numbers/brand for bulbs on an 06 coupe? Driving myself crazy trying to figure out what the hell is wrong. Infiniti wants $75 just to look at it.

When you swap bulbs with HIDs you need to swap them both.

The one bulb is burning differently than the other.

replace both bulbs, problem solved. The shop should have done that, they're idiots.

Xenon bulbs change color slightly over time (color shift). Brand new OEM 4300k will be yellow/white, over time though, they get whiter in appearance. This is normal.

This doesn't mean that they gave you the wrong bulb by any means.

Are you paying out of pocket for the repairs? or is it covered by insurance? If it was insurance I'd want them to buy me a new SET of bulbs. If you are just paying for the parts yourself however, adding a 2nd bulb will obviously cost more then a single bulb.

The key here is "reputable collision shop". If they are, then you simply point it out to them and they make it right. Seriously... All shops that are any good will offer a full lifetime warranty on their repairs. PLUS... if you did the repair through your Insurance Company, generally they will also offer a full warranty on repairs. (Some require you go to a "recommended" shop though.)

Keep in mind that OEM and LKQ in the world of collision repair mean the same thing. Unless you are paying an extra premium for "Factory Original Parts" they can give you anything out there that fits your "OEM" application, no matter what it is, no matter where it's made. You can get "crash parts" that were pulled off a wrecked car, (which is far and away better than new LKQ parts). LQK means Like Kind & Quality. Crash parts fall under the umbrella of LKQ because they fit the description, as well as the vehicle. New LKQ parts can be manufactured all over the world and never come close to fit, finish, body lines, mounting points, etc. as would Factory Original Parts.

Just go to the body shop and tell them they fubared it and they need to make it right.

call the parts department of your dealership and speak with someone, they will look up the part number for you.

then have the shop fix the problem...OR go to

ddmtunning.com and buy yourself some 8000k and DIY. it should be a D2R bulb
