Factor in the possibility that it's time for new fluids, brakes, tires, running 91+ gas, insurance, etc etc...and the cost goes up.
These cars have gotten cheap, but maintenance hasn't kept pace. Usually the first owners who shell out 35-40k for these cars take good care of them and can afford to maintain them, but as the prices drop and number of owner increase, less maintenance is typically done as owners paying less money for the car cant afford to keep up with it....even more if $$$ goes towards rims and exhaust, and not tranny fluid, belts and wheel bearings, etc.

id saty away from salvage, it takes alot of damage to salvage a g35 and very few places that repair them do it right
