Mods and Warranty (Timing Chain + Sprockets)
Hello,
I just bought a 2005 G35 6MT 44 thousand miles from Florida. I live in Texas. I bought it as is.
The clutch needs replacing. The car has plenty of mods, any suggestions on a good stage 2 clutch/flywheel?
My basic question is about warranty. My car has a rattling sound about 2100 rpm. I took it to Nissan and they told me it was my timing belt. The service advisor was very sure about this and told me that the car was probably still under warranty.
He saw my engine and I have a couple very obvious mods.
APS Manifold
Air Intake
I called Gunn Infiniti in San Antonio (4 hours away) and they said my car was still under warranty. Before I make the drive there in two cars to leave it there for a week, I wanted to know if they can void my power train warranty because of my manifold and air intake. I feel like the only thing they can say is that the extra HP affected the timing chain, but I don't know for sure.
Any one know a lenient service writer in San Antonio/Austin/Houston Texas that would be cool with mods?
I just don't want to have to pay 2k out of my pocket for a car I just got, plus another 1500 for a clutch/flywheel.

Those mods have nothing to do with the transmission. Just to be safe I would throw on the stock components anyways, unless your mods are already recorded in the system. Its best to have your car as stock as possible, that way in the future if anything else goes bad, they have no reason to not honor the warranty. The service rep tried to tell me I wouldn't get a new engine from Nissan because of my mods, luckily I didn't need to.
