Car accident today

I have an 06 coupe and I got rear ended pretty hard on the freeway today in CA. Basically everything in the back needs to be replaced along with the back left side panel of the car. It drives ok, but the exhaust sounds kinda bad. Anyone else been in a similar situation? Planning on taking it in Friday to get a rental car and drop it off at a shop. Just trying to see how much this is actually going to cost the insurance company.

Hope you are ok. Good luck on the repair. The at fault insurance company must provide a comparable car while yours is being repaired. I recently had mine repaired from an accident. State Farm wanted to put me in a 2 door speck. I told them I expected a comparable car. They asked me what I expected... I had done my research. Hertz has G37's that they rent, which is the closest to a comparable car you will probably get. I got a 2010 G37 sedan. Was a nice replacement, but not a coupe.

Sucks about getting rear ended. Hopefully the insurance company takes good care of you and doesn't cheap out on any repairs.

Have any pics of the damage?

Time to get a CS rear, JDM tails, and a Strafespeed trunk. Make sure you take it to a good shop.

Yeah, one that doesn't take your car for a drive and does a photoshoot of it, claiming that it is a widebody G.

get a lawyer. claim the car is not safe to drive/you don't feel safe driving it, have it towed and get a rental asap, go to the ER and get checked out even if you don't have any pain just get checked out. but GET A LAWYER ASAP! don't talk to the insurence company without one, its so much easier. where in ca do you live I can give you a lawyers number.

Ug, Grn...you don't have to get a lawyer for every accident, and if a vehicle is driveable, it's drivable. Not a gerat idea to advise people to make false claims to an insurance company.

That said, it sounds like a hard hit. If the quarter panel has to be replaced, that's a very bad hit. Definately take it easy over the next few days. You might feel okay now, but wake up VERY stiff.

Unless the insurance company tries to not pay on the claim I wouldn't complicate it by getting an attorney involved.... YET.

I would only get an attorney involved if you have injuries, have lost time from work from the injuries, have lost income from the injuries, will require continued/ongoing treatment for your injuries, and/or recovery is not expected to be 100%.

It would not be a bad idea to go see a Dr. for a set of x-rays, etc to make sure there isn't any unseen damage to your body.

Like mentioned before, you may be stiff/sore for a few days...
