what else should i do while installing plenum spacer?

got the MD 5/16" spacer on the way. going to do the install next week sometime during my off days. i'm gonna follow the DIY for the install and i'm really looking forward to it. i'm wondering tho, what else should i do while installing the spacer? i'd like to clean the plenum and maybe the throttle body as well. i'm going to make sure my intake is well sealed and all. i've thought of porting the lower plenum and maybe smoothing out the ports and runners. i've got a great bit for shaving the metal away and also some flapper wheels to polish everything to a smooth finish. anyone have any ideas on what else can be done while installing the spacer?

What else did you have in mind while getting that install?

If you have the time and tools, go ahead and port the lower plenum while you have it apart. There's an awesome DIY on my350z on how to do it, just jump to the last 5 pages or so for what people are currently doing: http://my350z.com/forum/engine-drive...m-porting.html

Great idea....^....and it never hurts to have both upper and lower plenum super clean. Spark plugs, only if you have in excess of 60K miles on your VQ motor. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter, correct torque specs and battery disconnected while doing the install....1 to 2 hour max. other wise your ECU will forget why it's there. I wouldn't mess with the TB at this point.... Later!

^so what happens if you disconnect the throttle body for a day or 2? Im going to take mine off to polish it so there's no way I can get it back on within 2 hrs. Just requires a normal TB relearn?

what spark plugs should i go with if i change them? i've always been told it's best to use what came on the car originally and that some aftermarket plugs can do damage. also, where do you purchase them? if i can save a few bucks by ordering online i don't mind waiting for the shipping. otherwise i'll get a set from autozone.

btw, thank you for the port and polish link.

Think I'll go ahead and change the spark plugs as well. Just can't decide if I wanna go NGK platinum, double platinum, or try the iridium. Anyone tried the iridium yet?

I have the iridium and honestly can't tell a difference in them from stock.
