Life Time Engine Warranty from Dealer...Do I need more?

Last week I purchased a used 2008 G35x Sedan with approximately 33K miles. Frankly, after lurking on this forum helped push me over the edge to pull the trigger. I just love the car.

I have read through several threads regarding Warranty/no warranty and ultimately I need to decide what to do. That said, I have about 8 months before original coverage goes away.

As part of my purchase my car was eligible for a lifetime engine warranty from the dealership (large local reputable dealer). As you can expect it has several conditions including requiring all service must occur at dealership. I was planning on getting oil changed and inspections at this dealership anyway and assuming I comply with the conditions do you think getting something like the Elite Warranty make sense? Obviously, more than engine problems can happen, but does it make sense to pay over $1,000 or so for double coverage when standard maintenance like brakes and tires are not covered anyway?

Thanks for any insight.

The Elite Warranty only covers all the electrical parts on the car. Brakes, tires, bumper is not in the Elite. Life time on the Engine does sound very nice. You can drive the **** out of that and get a new one (or better used one).

If you're going to buy a warranty make sure you know what's covered and that it's only from Nissan! Other company's warranty's can be voided by your making the smallest insignificant change like one size larger tire. They'll do anything not to have to pay a claim...

The only G motors that need a lifetime warranty are the rev ups IMHO. You will get raped by the dealer on routine maintenance trips if you have the ability to do most of it yourself at a fraction of the cost so I say not worth it.

Thanks, that was one thing I was thinking as well. This was not something I paid for directly, just part of the sales when buying the car. Essentially, it was an incentive for me to choose this car over another car priced very similar.

I have added benefit to use them for inspections and oil changes as they offer lifetime free inspections (not emissions) and after every four oil changes are one is free. Assuming they do it for a reasonable price, I can not lose.

I was offered tons of warranties for my Car even when i purchased a Certified One. Well after all this time I havent used any warranty service. Thanks God.

I just can justify paying $1200 to protect the wheels of my car. WTH i can buy a very nice set of wheels if something happens to one..

Use your $$ wisely.. when they say it will be bundle in the payment you are paying too much..

Exactly....^....even if you don't do the maintenance yourself and take your car to an independent shop you'll be $$ ahead....forget their costly warranty!
