is it ok to remove hood spring and sensor?

i'm adding a catch can and wanna put it where that little spring thing is behind the radiator catch can. i noticed there was a sensor attached to it. is it ok to remove this? is it going to throw a code? is there an ok alternative to removing it? let me know. thanks.
